Project Accountant
Job Title: Project Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Project Accountant who will be responsible for managing and overseeing accounting activities for construction projects. This role involves setting up and maintaining project budgets, handling contracts, and ensuring accurate project billing and financial reporting. Responsibilities + Announce new projects and prepare ECMS setup spreadsheets. + Create and organize project folders, transferring content from estimate folders. + Update Procore to reflect the construction progress and enter the project team details. + Establish and maintain budgets in both Procore and ECMS. + Set up the prime contract in Procore and upload the owner contract. + Verify contract values against the budget and order SLA certificates. + Obtain new vendor forms and W-9s for new trades. + Set up commitments and subcontracts in Procore and ECMS. + Create pre-lien information sheets and set up direct cost budget lines. + Execute trade contracts without markups and collect missing certificates of insurance from trades. + Roll up approved owner change orders in Procore and post in ECMS. + Update Procore with signed subcontractor change orders. + Add cost codes to the budget throughout the project in both Procore and ECMS. + Process owner billings and post trade pay applications. + Invoice owners for permit reimbursements and make collection calls for past-due invoices. + Pick up and deposit checks using SinglePoint. + Monitor notifications for all projects and collect required backup documentation for payments. + Move completed project folders and close projects in Procore. + Generate certified payroll reports for SLA and trade processing. + Order monthly union letters. Essential Skills + Proficiency in Procore and project accounting. + Experience in construction project management and financial reporting. + Ability to manage contracts, subcontracts, and commitments. + Knowledge of job costing, cost coding, and project billing. + Fundamental understanding of accounting principles including debits and credits. + Experience in tying project accounting back to financial statements such as P&L and balance sheets. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a general contractor environment. + Experience with Procore or similar project management software. + Familiarity with various accounting software such as eCMS, Acumatica, Viewpoint Spectrum, Vantage, Sage, NetSuite, and Timberline. + Experience with GMP, Cost Plus, and Lump Sum billing methods. + Highly preferred experience with general contractors and understanding of different project billing. Work Environment The role is based in a small office environment, working alongside another project accountant, with flexible hours typically from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, accommodating earlier finishes if needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
