Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Manager.

The Program Manager is a leader within the Department of Surgery's Education Division, responsible for overseeing strategic education initiatives, surgical skills lab operations, and revenue-generating business ventures.

 This role provides leadership for a multidisciplinary team including a program coordinator, project manager, and simulation operations specialist and is accountable for the successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of a wide range of academic and innovation programs.


Key areas of oversight include continuing medical education (CME), national and international observer programs, simulation-based training, education research and innovation, and the development and maintenance of performance dashboards. The Program Manager also serves as Administrator of the Surgical Skills Lab, ensuring alignment with American College of SurgeonsAccredited Education Institutes (ACS-AEI) standards.


The ideal candidate brings a strong background in healthcare administration, program development, and cross-functional leadership, with the ability to manage both strategic direction and operational execution across complex academic and clinical environments.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Program Oversight

Lead the strategic planning and execution of all education initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and institutional mission.Supervise and mentor a team that may include a program coordinator, project manager, and simulation operations specialist.Set priorities, establish timelines, and ensure efficient and timely execution of educational programs and projects.Evaluate program outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and guide the development of new initiatives or enhancements.

Surgical Skills Lab Management (ACS-AEI Standards)

Direct all aspects of the Surgical Skills Lab, including operations, scheduling, resource utilization, and compliance with ACS-AEI accreditation standards.Develop and deliver simulation-based and hands-on technical training programs in collaboration with faculty and clinical leaders.Oversee cadaver procurement, vendor relations, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.Prepare and submit required documentation and reports for ACS-AEI accreditation, and lead continuous quality improvement for lab programs.

Education Business Ventures & Financial Management

Lead the development, implementation, and financial oversight of revenue-generating programs, including CME courses and an international observer program.Develop and manage program budgets, track revenue and expenses, and prepare financial reports in coordination with the departments finance office.Identify growth opportunities for education ventures and develop business plans to expand program reach and impact.

Innovation, Data, and Research Support

Lead the design and implementation of departmental education dashboards to track key performance indicators, support strategic planning, and improve transparency.Coordinate and monitor research and innovation efforts across education programs, including scholarly output, curriculum development, and grant activity.Collaborate with faculty to develop and evaluate education-related research projects.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a liaison between the Department of Surgerys Education Division and institutional stakeholders, including medical school education offices, affiliated hospitals, and national/international partners.Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture across education programs and support integration of interdepartmental initiatives.Represent the department at institutional meetings and consortia related to education, simulation, and academic affairs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in academic medicine, healthcare education, or healthcare administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in healthcare administration, medical education, public health, or a related field strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience in program management, team supervision, and operational leadership.
Strong analytical, project management, and strategic planning skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with educational technology platforms (e.g., ERAS, New Innovations, Thalamus, Tableau).

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $97,094.74 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
