Production Technician
**Job Title: New Hire Utility** Job Description The New Hire Utility role is a dynamic position responsible for learning to operate equipment associated with the extrusion or tube mill processes and handling aluminum products. Candidates will engage in various tasks while adhering to safe job practices, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements. Responsibilities + Operate, support, and move materials on and off machines using lifting techniques and hoists. + Learn and participate in 'press team' operations within the aluminum extrusion department. + Ensure that all quality objectives are met and assist in operating extrusion or casting equipment. + Report and review any unusual conditions to lead operators or supervisors. + Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily production goals. + Adhere to union terms related to shift movement and flexibility. Essential Skills + 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or production environments. + Mechanical aptitude and machine operating experience. + Proficiency in general labor, production support, and manufacturing processes. + Ability to perform quality checks and inspections. + Experience with hand tools and forklifts. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Interest and ability to learn forklift operation. + Capability to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including weekends. + Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance and perform various physical tasks. Work Environment The work environment is non-climate controlled and can be loud due to machinery. Shifts are 8 hours, with potential for 10-hour shifts and weekend work. The facility operates on a union basis, requiring flexibility in shift assignments. Training occurs during the day shift, and candidates should be prepared for exposure to grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids. Safety equipment and PPE are provided by the company. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
