**Job Title: Technician**
**Job Description**
Join our team as a Technician where you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our specialty chemicals plant. You will work with powdered chemicals used in the polymer making process, contributing to plastics and waste water treatment plants. This role involves working at elevated heights and consistently moving between four levels of the facility.
**Responsibilities**
+ Ensure the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of the chemicals plant, including utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse.
+ Operate plant machinery and equipment, including opening and closing valves, monitoring instrumentation panels, and reporting all findings from gauges.
+ Dump 10-kilo bags and larger into containers, utilize basic math skills, track and monitor plant data, and follow procedures.
+ Climb ladders, operate forklifts, and perform manual duties including lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety, and policies.
+ Perform troubleshooting for minor maintenance defects and report issues as needed.
+ Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
+ Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools, and perform maintenance on equipment as needed.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in machine operation and mechanical functions.
+ Capability in troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
+ Proficiency in chemical or batch mixing processes.
+ Strong understanding of safety protocols and general production processes.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous chemical experience is not required; open to experienced and trainable candidates.
+ Track record of perfect safety and no attendance issues in previous roles.
+ Experience working in a heavy industrial environment is preferred.
+ Some electrical experience for instrumentation is advantageous.

**Work Environment**
The work environment includes a clean room that is air-conditioned, while the rest of the plant is not. Platforms have metal grading, and employees may be exposed to the elements when moving between buildings. The chemical plant is multi-leveled, requiring physical fitness to navigate four stories. Employees are involved in monitoring highly technical chemical processes, working with both hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals. Exposure to dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and flammable and toxic materials is part of the role. The current shift pattern involves rotating 8-hour shifts between the 1st and 2nd shifts every two weeks, with plans to introduce a third shift once fully staffed. A new Lego Shift schedule, 3 on, 2 off, and 2 on, is expected to start, rotating days to nights every two weeks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
