Production Support Engineer (Plano or Charlotte)

Our client, a leading technology firm, is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join their team. As a Production Support Engineer, you will be part of the IT Operations Department supporting critical technology platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to challenges, which will align successfully in the organization.
**Role: Production Support Engineer**
**Location: Plano, TX or Charlotte, NC (Hybrid -3 days onsite per week)**
**Position type: 12+ months with high possibility of extension/Conversion**
**Role Overview:**
Responsible for running day-to-day operations of the technology platform (Java, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Unix, Dynatrace, AppDynamics). This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues, creating and managing tickets, and collaborating with development and business teams to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.
**Preferred Work Schedule:** Sunday – Thursday
**Core Technologies:** Java, SQL Server, Oracle, Unix, Dynatrace, AppDynamics
**Desired Skills:** Splunk, Kafka, Python
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provide production support (L1/L2/L3) including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
+ Lead triaging, troubleshooting, and real-time restoration of production issues impacting applications or infrastructure.
+ Ensure timely communication and escalation to stakeholders during service outages or degradations.
+ Collaborate with Infrastructure, Development, and QA teams to support releases, upgrades, and deployments.
+ Monitor application health using tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, and other monitoring/scheduling platforms.
+ Perform root cause analysis, risk identification, and recommend long-term fixes.
+ Develop and maintain scripts, automation, and monitoring processes to improve production stability.
+ Ensure compliance with SLAs, ITIL practices, and production governance processes.
+ Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
+ Support on-call rotation for off-hours and weekend support as needed.
**Required Skills & Experience**
+ 5+ years of IT experience in Production Support, ITIL, Release Management, or Technical Implementations.
+ Strong knowledge of:
+ **Java/J2EE technologies** : Core Java, JDBC, EJB, Web Services, SOAP/REST APIs
+ **Middleware & Messaging** : Message Broker, IBM WebSphere MQ, JBoss, MuleSoft
+ **Databases** : Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, PL/SQL query tuning
+ **Operating Systems** : Unix and Windows, including shell scripting
+ Familiarity with event-driven and schedule-driven batch processes.
+ Hands-on experience with at least 2–3 monitoring or scheduling tools.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work across technical and business teams.
