Job Description

As a Fermentation Operator, you will play a crucial role in the overall process of our production operations. Your responsibilities will include the clean-in-place (CIP) of fermentation vessels and equipment, sterilization, weighing, and blending of ingredients, as well as monitoring fermentation parameters. You will also handle the disassembly and cleaning of centrifuges and spray dryers, along with warehousing tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, managing inventories, and preparing shipments. Maintenance tasks will involve disassembling, reassembling, and lubrication of pumps, valves, piping, motors, and equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform CIP and sterilization of fermentation vessels and equipment.Weigh and blend ingredients accurately.Monitor fermentation, centrifuge, and spray dryer parameters.Disassemble and clean centrifuges and spray dryers.Execute warehousing tasks including loading/unloading trucks and inventory management.Conduct maintenance tasks such as disassembling and lubricating equipment.

Essential Skills

Mechanical aptitude and experience in production environments.Proficiency in food production and machine operation.Ability to read and maintain batch records.Basic math skillsGood communication skills (verbal, written, computer).Attention to detail and a strong mechanical aptitude Ability to lift 60 lbs and work in confined areas.Willingness to work flexible hours and multitask.Mature, responsible demeanor with steady work experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small manufacturing facility with 12-15 employees, fostering a collaborative and versatile work culture. You will be expected to wear many hats and handle diverse tasks. The facility is not climate-controlled, which means it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It can also become dusty and dirty, but we provide necessary PPE such as respirators, goggles, smocks, and booties. In certain areas, a full gown is required, and we encourage frequent breaks with provided Gatorade and water to ensure your comfort and safety.

Job Type & Location

This is a 90 business day Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
