Job Description
The Production Mechanic (Level 3) performs all the functions assigned to a Production Mechanics for lower level roles. This role involves executing changeovers, overhauls, corrective repair work, fabricating parts on production equipment, and providing specialist service and training in areas such as machine shop, electricity, pipe fitting, and predictive maintenance on all production equipment. Equipment includes fillers, tappers, labelers, conveyors, and packaging equipment. Experience within foods or pharma companies is a big plus.
ResponsibilitiesExamine, test, and measure products from assigned areas to ensure adherence to quality specifications.Check for visual defects and take corrective actions as necessary.Review the established production schedule at the start of each shift to determine production runs, need for changeovers, and scheduled maintenance.Readjust lines and change over assigned equipment for product, material, size, and pack patterns.Run the first piece of production and check for conformance to quality standards.Perform preventive maintenance checks during the shift and take appropriate corrective actions.Record production delays and maintain required downtime records.Advise the Group Leader, Production Mechanics, and/or Manager of recurring equipment malfunctions.Clean and sanitize equipment and necessary parts as required or specified.Monitor equipment for unsafe conditions and recommend or implement corrective actions for equipment malfunctions.Provide own hand tools for the repair of production equipment.Analyze, diagnose, and resolve mechanical and operational problems on equipment in assigned areas.Analyze defective production as to cause and take corrective actions, recording and reporting problems for further analysis.Maintain the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic functions of production equipment in assigned areas.Replace parts such as bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, limit switches, air cylinders, and valves.Perform major overhaul and repair work for all production equipment.Maintain inventory of spare parts for equipment in assigned areas and prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and supplies.Assist in training production workers in the operation of equipment and safety precautions.Assist in training Production Mechanics (Level 1 and Level 2) as required.Provide input on the development of specifications for new machinery.Assist the Group Leader and Production Mechanics in the setup, utilization, and evaluation of the Plant Maintenance Program.Utilize data from the Preventive Maintenance Program and other plant production records to identify root causes of production problems, recommending and implementing corrective actions.Essential SkillsPLC troubleshootingTroubleshootingMaintenance technicianElectricalPreventive maintenanceMechanicalPneumaticsProduction repairBlueprint readingSchematic interpretationIndustrial machineryElectrical troubleshootingMaintenance repairMachinery maintenanceMotorsElectrical electro-mechanical PLCHydraulicsMechanical inclinationSet-up machineElectrical maintenance3-phase systemsIndustrial machineryMechanical troubleshootingMaintenance mechanicsProficiency in welding, machine shop, industrial electricity, PLC, or pipe fittingChange-overs and repair of at least eight lines4+ years of industrial maintenance experience (plastics/packaging preferred)Ability to use hand toolsAbility to read and interpret machinery and electrical blueprints/schematicsAbility to convert units of measureAbility to perform extensive troubleshooting of packaging equipmentAbility to use precision measuring devicesAbility to stick weld stainless and mild steelAbility to TIG and/or MIG weld stainless and carbon steelAbility to cut, weld, and braze with gas welding equipmentAdditional Skills & QualificationsProficiency in at least three of the following skills: welding, machine shop, industrial electricity, PLC, pipe fittingExperience in change-overs and repair of at least eight linesWhy Work Here?

Work Environment
The role involves working in a GMP environment, requiring the wearing of safety glasses, hair nets/beard guards, and closed-toed shoes. The warehouse area can get warm in the summertime and will be exposed to menthol smell. Cell phones and music are prohibited on the manufacturing floor.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $74360.00 - $77750.00/yr.
2nd shift is $35.75hr
3rd shift is 37.38hr
