Job Description
As a Production Associate, you will assist with setups and operate automated CNC vertical and horizontal machines, ensuring precision in locating and identifying the X, Y, Z axis. You will perform daily point checks on assigned machines, report concerns, and initiate maintenance requests as necessary. Meeting departmental and company goals promptly, you will interpret product blueprints and use precision measuring instruments to ensure proper machining specifications.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with setups and operate automated CNC vertical and horizontal machines.Locate and identify the X, Y, Z axis on machines accurately.Perform daily point checks on machines and report concerns to the supervisor.Meet departmental and company objectives, including efficiencies, scrap control, and time motion setup reductions.Interpret product blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work instructions accurately.Use scales, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify machining specifications.Replace dull cutting tools following safety protocols.Mount, install, align, and secure tools and workpieces using precision measuring instruments.Listen for irregular machine sounds and adjust as necessary, notifying supervisory personnel.Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, and adjust controls for programming faults or malfunctions.Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling and setups.Lift workpieces manually or with hoists or cranes.Enter control instructions into machine control units.Monitor and adjust coolant systems.Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules.Assist with setups for future jobs, inspections, and part checks.Train new operators and deburr machined parts as required.Follow all safety policies and utilize personal protective equipment.Communicate effectively in English and follow instructions.Perform other tasks and assignments as required.Essential SkillsMinimum six months experience in a manufacturing role utilizing CNC machines or similar automated equipment.Experience reading and interpreting shop blueprints and technical instructions.Basic math skills including fraction conversions.Experience using micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.Consistent employment history without significant gaps.Additional Skills & QualificationsVocational training or certification in machining preferred.Experience using cranes, forklifts, and similar material handling equipment.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

You may encounter extreme temperatures occasionally and work with hazardous equipment such as forklifts, hand tools, cranes, and other lifting devices in a machine shop setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, Georgia.
Open Shifts
Day shift - Monday-Thursday: 5A-5P and Friday-Sunday: 5A-5P
Night shift - 2-2-3: 5P-5A - train on days for the first month
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $21.00/hr.
