**About the Role**
As Uber Eats expands deeper into grocery, retail, convenience, and packaged goods, the scale and complexity of our product catalog is growing exponentially. The Catalog Quality team ensures our catalog is complete, correct, and consistent so customers can trust what they see, shoppers can reliably pick the right items in stores, and merchants and CPGs can understand and improve their performance.
As the Product Manager for Product Taxonomy & Relationships, you will own the strategy and technical foundation for how products are classified, structured, and related to one another in Uber’s catalog. This includes defining category taxonomy, variant relationships, and brand hierarchies that reflect real-world shopping behavior and scale across verticals.
**What the Candidate Will Do**
1. **Own the strategy and roadmap for core catalog foundations**, defining how products are organized, structured, and related in ways that scale across categories, markets, and verticals.
2. **Establish clear principles for product structure and variation**, ensuring products are grouped and differentiated in a way that aligns with real-world shopping behavior while remaining technically scalable.
3. **Partner closely with Engineering and Data Science** to design and evolve systems that improve catalog structure, consistency, and quality at scale, leveraging automation where appropriate.
4. **Use data and customer insights** to identify gaps and inconsistencies in catalog structure, prioritize investments, and measure impact on customer and business outcomes.
5. **Design operational workflows** to handle ambiguous or high-judgment cases, balancing automation with targeted human review to maintain quality without sacrificing velocity.
6. **Collaborate with cross-functional partners** to ensure catalog foundations are predictable, well-governed, and support a broad set of downstream experiences and teams.
**Basic Qualifications**
1. 3+ years of Product Management experience delivering technically complex platforms or data-driven products
2. Proven ability to translate ambiguous problem spaces into clear strategies and execution plans
3. Strong technical intuition and the ability to ask the right questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and make solid decisions in complex, highly technical domains
4. Ability to break down complex, ambiguous problem spaces into clear principles, frameworks, and actionable plans
5. A rigorous, truth-seeking mindset and the discipline to dig deep, validate assumptions, and ensure product decisions hold up across all edge cases
6. Comfortable working with messy, real-world operational data and using it to inform how we manage the catalog.
7. Clear, structured communicator who can break down complex topics, explain the why, and build conviction across cross-functional partners. Skilled at storytelling, influencing without authority, and collaborating closely with teams to move complex work forward together.a
**Preferred Qualifications**
1. Strong systems thinking and technical intuition, with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs in complex data and platform domains
2. Experience owning foundational platform or data model initiatives with broad downstream impact across multiple teams or products
3. Background working in commerce, marketplaces, or large-scale ecosystems, where product structure, consistency, or governance meaningfully affects user experience and business outcomes
4. Experience collaborating closely with Engineering and Data Science teams on systems that operate under uncertainty, evolve over time, or require balancing precision, scale, and operational cost
