Product Engineer
Job Title: Product EngineerJob Description

A company in Northern Michigan is seeking a Product Engineer to support sustainment activities for a line of tactical respirators designed for prisons, police forces, and the military. The role involves addressing non-conformance and build issues in production and developing solutions. Communication with suppliers is essential to ensure product quality and confidence.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze field returns and perform failure analysis and root cause analysis using the 8D methodology.Validate customer needs and complete the APQP process for new product introductions.Develop proof of concept and prototypes, ensuring products can perform their intended functions.Create production tooling and processes to achieve necessary production volumes.Manage projects by coordinating with test engineers and CAD designers to ensure timely completion.Spend 20-30% of time troubleshooting sustainment issues and identifying root causes.Allocate 50% of time to redesign and problem-solving.Dedicate 20-30% of time to implementation and validation of solutions.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Engineering.Mechanical Engineering expertise.Experience with DFMEA, creating test procedures, and designing/building test fixtures.Technical writing skills for creating test reports.Proficiency in Solidworks CAD software.Ability to evaluate process capability and statistics, including capability studies and hypothesis testing.Experience with pneumatic system design, high pressure systems, and hydraulics.Program management skills.Knowledge of CAD, CAE, APQP, and design of experiments.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with pneumatic system design, high pressure systems, and hydraulics.Program management expertise.Familiarity with CAE and interfacing with external data sources.Experience with 3D printing.Understanding of APQP or similar methodologies.Ability to design experiments and develop electromechanical tests.Work Environment

Work alongside a group of fun, like-minded individuals in Northern Michigan. Flexible starting hours between 6-9am with a 9-80 schedule, allowing every other Friday off. Enjoy 3 weeks of vacation and 10 paid holidays. Collaborate with a team including a manager, a powered air product line engineer, and a CAD designer. Interface with process and quality engineers daily and occasionally with procurement to develop new components.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cadillac, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $40.38/hr.
