Job Title: Product Development EngineerJob Description This role involves utilizing SolidWorks for designing heavy trucking components, ensuring vehicles are made to specification by incorporating engines with components such as air filters. The role requires interpreting vehicle specifications, resolving configuration issues, and integrating third-party systems into purpose-built vehicles. The engineer will serve as a technical resource for multiple departments, supporting smooth production and lifecycle performance. While there are some templates and references available, a majority of the work will involve designing from scratch. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering + SolidWorks Design Experience + Heavy Trucking Industry Experience (Tank, Refuse, or Tractor type vehicles could work as well) + Experience in Engine Installation Design (Heat rejection, Cooling Analysis, FEAD Testing) Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Cooling Analysis + Air Intake Design + Finite Element Analysis (FEA) + IQA Process + Experience with Firetruck Chassis Work Environment This is an onsite position, working around 40 hours per week, primarily behind the computer doing design work. There will be a 2-3 month period where testing will be conducted; although this role will not be responsible for testing, the engineer will act as a subject matter expert on the products developed. The work environment is mission-critical to meet timelines for vehicle production, offering stability and high demand with vehicles built from the chassis up. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wyoming, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
