Job DescriptionAs a News Producer, you will be responsible for the creation of a daily newscast. This role may also work in support of other newscasts or our website by researching stories, writing copy and editing video for both broadcast and digital.

Responsible for overall production and content of newscasts on any platformWrite news scripts, promos, teases, headlines and topicals and edit with non-linear softwareAssign stories to newscast story producers, specifying the angle, video location, etcConceptualize set graphics and blocking with APC operators and anchorsExecute live shots and communicate with anchors during live newscastsRespond to breaking news with accuracy and urgencyStay well-informed of daily news events and knowledgeable of the San Diego news marketContribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage decisions and editorial meetingsUnderstand NBC 7’s and Telemundo 20’s newscast mission and station prioritiesResearch and gather information on assigned storiesWrite text articles, create and publish video clips and still photos for our websiteExecute all publishing workflows for video, images and text including publishing to social media platformsManage video livestreamsPerform other related duties as assignedQualificationsA minimum of 2 years of experience as a broadcast producerBachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related fieldAt least one year prior news editing experienceAbility to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentAbility to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and write intros and leads to video online contentDemonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelinesEligibility Requirements:

Salary range: $70,500-$75,000
