Job Title: Procurement Manager

Job Description

As a Procurement Manager, you will lead and oversee all procurement activities with a strong focus on contract management and compliance. You will develop and implement processes for managing high-value and high-risk contracts and establish policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and mitigate risk. Your role will involve creating and standardizing procurement workflows, policies, and procedures as the organization transitions from a startup approach to a structured system. You will supervise warehouse operations to align with procurement and inventory objectives, providing analytical insights and strategic direction to guide and develop the procurement team.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to the Supply Chain team to ensure a conducive working environment for achieving KPIs and employee development through effective mentoring and training programs.Ensure goods and services are received, managed, and accounted for in a timely and accurate manner.Direct the safe and secure storage and handling of materials in all warehouses in accordance with legal requirements and standards.Direct storage of materials to prevent unauthorized use, protect against the elements, and avoid deterioration, issuing materials on a FIFO basis when required.Implement logical storage solutions to promote easy access and maintain high standards of housekeeping.Direct and coordinate inventory management by applying best practices to catalog inventory items, determine stock levels, reorder levels, and quantities.Create and follow appropriate stock on hand variation procedures and manage order placement to replenish stock holdings.Develop, implement, and audit policies and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements related to materials purchasing, service orders, formal agreements, inventory control, transportation, storage, handling, distribution, and associated payments.Lead and participate in the creation of materials orders, service orders, and formal agreements for the purchase of materials and services.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 7 years in Procurement, Warehouse, or Inventory Control, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Proficiency in procurement management and contract negotiation.Experience in a mining environment is highly desirable.Experience with operating systems, preferably SAP Business One.Strong analytical skills to provide leadership and insights to the team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency with Excel.Ability to prioritize critical or urgent requirements and adjust priorities as needed.Performance orientation and ability to hold employees accountable.High level of interpersonal skills.Strong commercial acumen.

Work Environment

You will work closely with a small team comprising one procurement specialist and two warehouse technicians. The department is stable with no foreseeable changes, amidst a larger workforce of 90 employees and numerous contractors. The work is primarily centered around mining operations, with a focus on addressing challenges in finding skilled electricians and operators. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
