Under the guidance of the Molding Supervisor, the Process Technician will enhance safety, quality, and machine up-time through continuous improvement and process optimization. This hands-on role requires collaboration with department employees to assist in set-ups, repairs, training, and other tasks as needed.
ResponsibilitiesSupport daily production as a member of the Molding Core Team by monitoring safety, quality, and performance.Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, technical, and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous flow.Set up, start, operate, and monitor Injection Molding Machines (IMMs) and associated automation using approved process templates and control sheets.Apply scientific molding principles to analyze, optimize, and standardize processes, including scrap reduction and process control sheet optimization.Perform process, mold, material, and equipment sampling.Conduct mechanical and basic electrical evaluations, troubleshooting, and repairs to molding machines, molds, and supporting equipment.Mix resin materials, colorants, and regrind according to established formulas and processing requirements.Ensure materials are processed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.Maintain accurate documentation and records, including process data, setup and daily checklists, and equipment logs.Provide training and guidance to team members on internal processes, equipment operation, and safety practices.Participate in safety initiatives and serve as a member of the Medical Response Team as assigned.Support special projects and additional responsibilities as business needs require.Essential SkillsProcess engineeringInjection moldingPlastic and injection mold understandingBlueprint readingFive years of plastic molding experience in mold setup and process development or a combination of education and experienceAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situationsUnderstanding of plastics processing theory including material structure and effects of moisture on materialsProficiency in using computers and necessary applicationsAdditional Skills & QualificationsAssociate’s degree in Plastics Processing or equivalent combination of professional certification and experience in advanced injection molding and scientific molding practicesFormal apprenticeship completion in plastics processing or injection molding with additional industry certificationStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work in-week and weekend overtime as business needs dictateExperience working in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of success is preferredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manualsWhy Work Here?Become part of a company with a long-standing history and a vertically integrated system, building their own machines and conducting most processes in-house. Work EnvironmentThe position operates on the 1st shift from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with the possibility of alternative schedules based on business needs. The role requires availability to work extended shifts as required by production demands within a plastics environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
