Job Title: Process Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join our team at a new state-of-the-art facility dedicated to recycling chemical waste and producing materials for the electric vehicle battery industry. This role involves designing, optimizing, and controlling chemical manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production of secondary battery conductive materials. The position requires spending 70% of the time on the production floor and 30% in an office environment initially, with potential for a more balanced distribution over time.
Responsibilities
Develop, optimize, and maintain chemical manufacturing processes to improve yield, throughput, quality, and cost efficiency.Analyze process performance using statistical methods and process data to identify sources of variation and implement corrective actions.Conduct process monitoring, inspections, and testing of critical process parameters and critical quality attributes.Support production planning by verifying material specifications, batch readiness, and process capability.Create, update, and maintain process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, SOPs, and batch records.Perform process risk assessments, including HAZOP, FMEA, and job safety analyses.Research and implement new or improved chemical processes, raw materials, and formulations.Establish and maintain safe operating procedures for handling hazardous chemicals, solvents, powders, and energy-dense materials.Design and optimize equipment layouts and material flow for reactors, mixers, mills, dryers, coating systems, and material handling equipment.Evaluate and qualify process equipment for compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.Support scale-up activities from laboratory or pilot operations to full-scale manufacturing.Estimate process and production costs, including material usage, energy consumption, labor, and waste disposal.Maintain detailed documentation of process validations, quality assessments, test results, deviations, and corrective actions.Stay current on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies related to chemical processing and secondary battery materials.Essential Skills

Associates or Bachelors Degree in an Engineering Discipline1+ years of manufacturing/process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)Excellent communication skills and ability to work with othersFamiliarity with ISO 9001 & IATF standardsWork Environment
This position is based in a brand new, clean facility with a mix of work on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment. The standard work shift is Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, with occasional weekend work as needed. The facility features dispersing machinery and PLC automation, and employees are required to wear clean suits in certain areas.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kokomo, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/hr.
