Process Engineer: Utilities and ETP

JOB PURPOSE The Process Engineer supports World Class Manufacturing by reducing defects, waste, and losses across production. The role uses Focused and Quality Improvement tools to identify and fix key loss areas, validate process improvements, and set new operating standards. Working closely with line teams, the engineer provides technical training and coaching in root‑cause analysis to build capability and strengthen semi‑autonomous team performance. In Utilities, the role also manages water treatment and wastewater processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE + Optimization of Incoming Water treatment- This involves assessing the suitable water treatment process to meet water quality standards. + Monitoring Chemical Consumption for incoming water, Borehole and Rainwater harvest treatment to identify losses and implement remedial solutions. + Monitoring chemical consumptions for Wastewater Treatment (ETP) to identify losses and implement remedial actions. + Review Utilities Process for optimizations (chilled Water, Steam production & supply, compressed air, etc.). + Train Utilities Operators on efficient running of the Utilities Plant as per design. + Review Effluent Treatment (WWTP) processes for optimization. + Identify and initiate Sustainable Development initiatives within the Utilities environment to ensure alignment with the Unilever Sustainable Development agenda. + Collaborate with other stakeholders within the Plant for alignment with Utilities and ETP requirements. + HAZOPs review for Utilities and ETP processes. + Engage with contractors, and relevant external stakeholders including local municipality among other stakeholders. + Eliminate Waste and Loss according to the WCM prioritization process using AM, PM, FI and QC pillar tools and methodologies. + Create Technical Standards to ensure process stability on the line. + Train line crews on technical standards and restoration of basic conditions (Stability sustainability). + Identify and extend good practice to other lines. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED Experiences & Qualifications + Diploma in Chemical Engineering + Minimum 2 years of experience in water treatment plant (Wastewater Treatment). + Proven experience working as an Effluent Treatment Plant Operator or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. + Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to utility systems, such as OSHA + Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams. + Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Skills + Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify issues and implement appropriate solutions. + Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records. + Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external service providers.
