Privacy Lead & Privacy Design - EMEA and APAC This is an exciting senior role that will lead Aon’s global approach to embedding privacy by design in products, services, and internal data uses, while ensuring compliance with other data related requirements. It oversees the EMEA and APAC Privacy & Data trust teams and reports directly to the Chief Privacy & Data Trust Officer. The position also collaborates with the Chief Data & Analytics Office and the Data Governance Lead to align privacy, data protection, data governance and ethical considerations—including AI—with enterprise‑wide data and analytics strategies. What the day will look like Privacy by Design & Responsible Innovation + Establish and embed a global privacy by design framework + Advise on privacy, data governance, AI, data transfer, retention and related issues to support products, services, and internal strategies + Review impact assessments and controls + Advise on anonymization, pseudonymization and de-identification strategies + Develop and enhance policies and procedures to ensure Aon meets its responsibilities as both a data controller and data processor + Oversee privacy compliance for marketing initiatives (websites, digital channels, apps) and ensure privacy notices are accurate and up to date + Monitor evolving privacy and data laws and update internal policies and practices + Strengthen data retention and minimization practices + Advise on privacy aspects of M&A and strategic transactions and support contract critical issues for privacy, data and AI + Advise on assurance and testing activities, and develop/track key privacy and data risk indicators + Collaborate with colleagues on incident response and third party risk management Manage the EMEA & APAC teams and Global Privacy & Data Trust Initiatives + Provide leadership and oversight of privacy program strategy for EMEA and APAC, working with + Regional Heads of Privacy to ensure consistent implementation and alignment across program activities + Mentor and develop team members + Support Global Privacy & Data Trust Program initiatives and strategic priorities Cross functional collaboration and training + Partner with Legal & Compliance, Data Governance, Engineering, Analytics, IT, Cybersecurity, marketing and business teams to meet strategic objectives while complying with legal and client requirements + Advise on and develop collaborative processes to assess and mitigate risks and embed privacy, data, cyber, AI and anonymization requirements into products, services, initiatives + Support first line teams to create and maintain data mapping, risk registers and other ongoing documentation + Support legal and compliance colleagues with escalated privacy, data, AI related contracting questions, up to date templates and strategies + Work with implementation teams to design and deploy privacy controls and safeguards, including privacy enhancing technologies + Address privacy risks, data subject rights, data retention and minimization with relevant teams + Collaborate with regional teams to unify regional requirements into clear global requirements + Enhance data and client trust by improving and automating FAQs for questions related to our products, services and practices + Educate and train teams on privacy by design principles, responsible data and AI use and emerging regulatory requirements + Train and engage first line teams on best practices for privacy and data protection, ensuring adherence to global standards How this opportunity is different Lead Aon’s global privacy‑by‑design strategy all regions, combining senior leadership, responsible innovation and cross‑functional influence. Skills and experience that will lead to success + Law degree and qualification to practice law in the UK or an EU jurisdiction + Strong experience in a law firm and/ or in-house, with substantial privacy experience, including in MarTech and AdTech + Experience advising on privacy, data requirements in a product, services, technology or AI/data analytics context + Proven ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance for product, data analytics and engineering teams + Experience with de-identification, pseudonymization, anonymization techniques, + Experience with privacy by design, contract escalations, and implementing new legal and regulatory requirements + Experience leading teams and acting as both an individual contributor and manager + Experience working collaboratively in a matrixed global environment + Excellent interpersonal and cross functional leadership, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and regions + Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including experience presenting to senior executives + Curiosity and interest in taking on new challenges and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment + Willingness to accommodate some evening/ early morning global calls and travel + Fluent English (C1 or C2).
