Principal UX Reseacher, Multi-channel Commerce and Fulfillment
Description Amazon's Multi-channel Commerce and Fulfillment (MCCF) team builds commerce and supply-chain solutions that enable businesses of all sizes to grow both on and off Amazon. The MCCF UX team brings Amazon's advanced capabilities to address the commerce and supply-chain needs of global enterprises and small businesses alike. We are seeking a Principal UX Researcher to drive impactful, data-driven research initiatives that will shape the future of commerce and supply-chain experiences, inform key business decisions, and contribute to our long-term product vision. This position offers the opportunity to influence the future of global commerce and supply-chain solutions while working with industry-leading technologies and methodologies. As a member of the MCCF UX Leadership team, you will work closely with product and engineering leaders across MCCF and other Amazon partner teams. The Principal UX Researcher will lead strategic research initiatives to illuminate customer needs, behaviors, and opportunities to unify and optimize customer experiences for supply-chain solutions. Through this research, you will uncover both stated and unstated opportunities for Amazon to innovate on behalf of our customers. You will establish clear connections between user insights and measurable impact while collaborating with UX researchers, designers, and data scientists across Amazon to surface strategic insights. In this role, you will introduce industry-leading qualitative and quantitative research methods and leverage AI tools to accelerate and amplify research impact at a strategic level. You will synthesize insights from multiple quantitative data sources, including experiment metrics and analytics, along with qualitative inputs to craft compelling user-centered narratives. Additionally, you will mentor UX researchers and designers on the team to enhance the quality of both generative and validation research across the MCCF product portfolio. Key job responsibilities - Develop and execute comprehensive research strategies for Multi-channel Commerce and Fulfillment, identifying opportunities to enhance merchant satisfaction, adoption, growth, and business outcomes - Design and lead complex quantitative research initiatives utilizing advanced methodologies, including survey design, statistical analysis, experimental design, and behavioral data analysis - Synthesize insights from multiple data sources (surveys, user logs, experiments, qualitative research) to develop a comprehensive understanding of merchant needs, behaviors, and opportunities - Establish and implement robust measurement frameworks for merchant experience, including satisfaction metrics, success indicators, and longitudinal tracking systems - Create effective insight communication channels utilizing advanced data visualization and storytelling techniques to drive organizational alignment and action - Influence senior leadership and key stakeholders through compelling, data-driven narratives that connect user insights to business impact and product strategy - Collaborate with executive leadership to translate research findings into actionable product strategies and roadmap priorities - Orchestrate research programs across multiple teams and stakeholders, building consensus and managing complex relationships to achieve shared objectives - Provide mentorship and thought leadership to elevate research excellence across the organization, fostering best practices and innovative methodologies - Develop scalable, AI-enabled research frameworks and tools that empower teams to make data-driven decisions efficiently and effectively A day in the life - Lead strategic research planning sessions with product and design leadership teams - Design and oversee large-scale merchant studies combining multiple research methodologies - Analyze complex datasets to identify key patterns in merchant behavior and product usage - Present data-driven insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders across functions - Help leadership teams prioritize high-impact opportunities based on data-driven insights - Develop and implement AI-enabled research tools to accelerate insights generation and validation - Mentor research team members and build scalable research frameworks and tool - Educate cross-functional teams on data-driven decision making and research excellence Basic Qualifications - PhD or MS in statistics, quantitative field, economics, experimental psychology or a related discipline - 12+ yrs industry experience leading quantitative research, including developing and validating survey measures and/or assessments and applying quantitative methods to business and industry settings - Demonstrated mastery of statistical modeling and hypothesis testing - Experience with survey methodology, sampling strategies, and weighting techniques - Experience with data analysis package (R, SAS, Matlab, SPSS, etc.) - Proficiency in experimental and quasi-experimental methods - Advanced proficiency in R, Python, or similar programming languages - Excellent SQL skills and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) - Track record of influencing product strategy through research insights Preferred Qualifications - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - Track record of successful collaboration with qualitative researchers (e.g., ethnographers, human factors specialists) and research scientists and/or data scientists - Experience researching B2B enterprise/SaaS products and e-commerce - Experience mentoring other researchers and driving team excellence - Expertise in conjoint analysis, choice modeling, or other advanced survey techniques - Experience with generative AI, NLP, and its applications in research Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $163,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $269,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
