Principal Technical Program Manager, Strategic Partnerships & IMPACT360
Amazon.com
The newly created Amazon’s Partnership Acceleration & Co-innovation Team is responsible for delivering corporate strategy, formulating strategic deals that accelerate the partnerships, and value maximizing through technical and business adoption. We are seeking an innovative, strategic, and results-oriented leader who will partner with the STO to manage the business operations and long term strategy for this impactful organization.
We are seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to own large, cross-organizational technical programs supporting strategic partnerships. These programs span multiple Amazon and AWS teams and require coordination across engineering, security, finance, legal, procurement, and business leadership.
In this role, you will translate partnership commitments into executable technical and operational plans, ensure solutions meet AWS architectural and operational standards, and provide clear, accurate communication to senior internal leaders and external partners.
The role requires deep, hands-on technical knowledge of AWS architectures and best practices, as well as exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
Own complex, cross-org programs end-to-end
- Own program definition and delivery, including charter, success metrics, roadmap, milestones, dependencies, risks, and decision points.
- Drive alignment across organizations that do not share reporting lines; manage competing priorities and unblock critical path issues.
- Ensure programs transition cleanly into steady-state ownership and operations.
Provide technical leadership and architectural judgment
- Engage deeply on architecture, integration, and operational design across security, reliability, scalability, cost, and observability.
- Apply AWS best practices and Well-Architected principles to evaluate tradeoffs and identify gaps.
- Partner with architects, principal engineers, and service teams to converge on solutions that are robust, supportable, and operable.
Executive communication and writing
- Own executive-ready narratives, including options, tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and clear decision asks.
- Produce high-quality written artifacts (one-pagers, six-pagers, decision memos, operating reviews).
- Communicate complex technical issues clearly to mixed audiences, including senior internal leaders and external partner executives.
- Proactively surface risks and manage expectations.
Build mechanisms that scale
- Create and institutionalize mechanisms that improve cross-org execution, such as governance forums, decision logs, and readiness criteria.
- Identify recurring failure modes and address them through durable process, tooling, and ownership models.
- Raise program management maturity by improving planning, execution, and decision-making practices.
Principal TPM scope
- Drive operating reviews and establish program health metrics.
- Build and maintain multi-quarter plans, dependency maps, and critical paths.
- Define team interfaces, launch criteria, operational handoffs, and runbooks.
- Manage delivery risk, including phased delivery, rollback planning, and launch readiness.
- Mentor TPMs and raise the bar through coaching and strong written narratives.
