The Software Business Area within the Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principle Technical Editor/Writer to join our diverse and talented material development group to support our customers. As a Principal Technical Editor/Writer you will be responsible for writing, rewriting and/or editing technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to express technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences and acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to and understanding technical specifications, engineering drawings, and trade journals. to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to Subject Matter Experts. This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama without remote work possibility.
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must, at a minimum, meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
5 Years experience as a Technical Editor and Writer with a Bachelors degree; 3 Years experience with a Masters degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience working with military technical documents related to integrated logistics support ARs, Mil Specifications and Preferences, Technical Manuals, Technical Bulletins, IETMs, DIDs, etc.)
5+ years of experience and advanced skills with the Microsoft Office product suite
3+ years of experience and intermediate skills with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator
Have a current active Secret or Top Secret clearance or an interim Secret clearance to start work
Have the ability to travel up to 10% when required

Masters Degree in English, Writing, Instructional Design, or related field
Certification in AGILE/SAFe, such as Scrum Master, DevOps, Product Management, etc.
6+ years working with military technical documents related to training development, training delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, Mil Specifications and Preferences, Technical Bulletins, IETMs, DIDs, etc.)
Knowledge of Government Printing Office (GPO) style guide
Experience in
Advanced Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and/or Adobe Illustrator user
Knowledge of Beyond Compare and Ultra Edit software
Documenting Software User, Administration, and Installation Documents
Working in JIRA and Confluence
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,100.00 - $118,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
