Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) sector is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Engineer Systems - (Orbit Analyst) to work as a member of an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team in Alice Springs, AU.
**Please note this role can be filled at either level 3 or 4. **
This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. Ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance.
The Orbit Analyst will be responsible for astrodynamics analytical support, system problem/anomaly resolution support, data trending, operational product updates, and performance analysis. The team also provides program expertise on engineering subsystems and maintains a baseline of operational support products for a complex system. The candidate will have an active role in shaping the basis of how to execute planning and operations. The candidate should be a self-starter who has a passion for space and wants to be part of a team that shares that passion.
Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Perform orbit analysis, orbital determination, and analysis functions.
Generate and provide daily orbit data to external users and various stakeholders.
Develop procedures and training for support to off-nominal events
Interface with customer, other teams to ensure strong communication of OA status
Participate in testing efforts of new systems.
Participate in customer education of basic orbital mechanics.
Support and perform future OA software upgrades leading to the automation of many of the OA functions supporting both daily OA activities and off-nominal OA support activities.
Providing rotating 24x7 on-call support to lead the resolution of system issues and anomalies.
Utilize agile processes and tools to include but not limited to Jira, Confluence, and Git
Level 3 Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Master’s of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 3 years of engineering/technical experience
Familiarity with LINUX, Perl, AGILE SW development tools
Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, python, etc.)
Familiarity with orbital mechanics modeling SW (STK, ODTK, OD++, FreeFlyer)
Active in scope DoD Top Secret Clearance OR SCI Access at time of application
Ability to obtain/pass CI Poly Examination prior to start date
Level 4 Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 8 years of engineering/technical experience OR a Masters of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 6 years of engineering/technical experience
Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
Familiarity with LINUX, Perl, AGILE SW development tools
Familiarity with scripting languages (Perl, python, etc.)
Familiarity with orbital mechanics modeling SW (STK, ODTK, OD++, FreeFlyer)
Active in scope DoD Top Secret Clearance OR SCI Access at time of application
Ability to obtain/pass CI Poly Examination prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance / SCI Access with a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph examination
Prior Mission 1 operations and/or modeling and simulation engineering experience
Prior ACS (attitude control subsystem) experience
Experience working in a geographically diverse team and matrix organization
Experience with LINUX, Perl, Python, AGILE SW development tools
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
