Principal Solutions Architect – Enterprise Architecture & Modernization

Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time. **Position Summary** As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will drive enterprise-wide technology strategy, architectural standards, and innovation across a complex, mission-critical environment. You’ll partner with business and IT teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions that advance our organizational objectives, maximize value, and minimize disruption. Key Responsibilities: + Establish and enforce enterprise-wide architectural standards and methodologies. + Drive architectural methodologies and standards within specific business units or substantial projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and technological advancements. + Lead initiatives within the management of medical provider data, including provider demographic management, provider self-service, and value-based contracting. + Lead the design and development of critical architectural solutions, from initial planning through implementation (Agile and Waterfall). + Innovate by identifying, assessing, and integrating emerging technologies—including Cloud and AI—into architectural frameworks, with a focus on modernization and claims processing. + Provide expert consultation on intricate technical challenges and enterprise-scale solutions. + Evaluate solution options and recommend appropriate paths forward, balancing modernization with legacy asset value. + Develop transition plans that enable cloud migration and technology upgrades with minimal business disruption. + Collaborate with business units to ensure architectural solutions align with business goals and operational realities. + Partner closely with delivery teams (BA, Tech Leads, QA, Project Management, Infrastructure) to ensure integrated execution. + Oversee the replacement and integration of large-scale systems, including mainframe and cloud, across portfolios with hundreds of interconnected applications (e.g., Commercial Claims supporting over 1 million claims/day). **Required Qualifications** + 15+ years in technical roles spanning engineering, architecture, and enterprise delivery. + 8+ years as a Solutions Architect designing distributed, event‑driven architectures (APIs, Microservices). + 5+ years working with enterprise databases and integration tools (Cosmos DB, SQL Server, DB2, DataStage, IIB, ODM). + 5+ years of hands‑on development experience (Java, .NET, COBOL, Salesforce Service/Marketing Cloud). + 5+ years architecting solutions on cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS). + 3+ years’ experience with complex integration ecosystems (50–60+ applications, 250+ integrations, high‑volume transactional environments). **Preferred Qualifications** + Advanced certifications in architecture or cloud specific technology domains (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect). + Hands-on experience with Agile and Waterfall delivery models. + Familiarity with mainframe modernization, cloud-native design, and AI integration. + Experience working in highly integrated, high-volume transaction environments. **Education** + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. + Master’s degree preferred. **Pay Range** The typical pay range for this role is: $144,200.00 - $288,400.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
