The Front Office Solutions team at FactSet delivers market-leading products and services for Portfolio Managers and Traders spanning the entire Portfolio Lifecycle. Our offerings, including Portfolio Management Hub (PMHub), LiquidityBook, Portware/FactSet EMS are designed for seamless integration, supporting clients’ evolving workflows from analysis through execution.
Within this, the EMS – Engineering team is driving a major modernization initiative. We are rebuilding the Portware Enterprise trading platform from a monolithic architecture to a cloud-native, multi-tenant, auto-scalable, distributed micro services ecosystem, integrating FactSet’s best-of-breed suites to empower client workflows at scale.
We are seeking a visionary Principal Software Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural direction for this ambitious transformation.
Responsibilities:
Architect and drive scalable, resilient, and maintainable software solutions that meet and exceed functional, performance, and reliability expectations.Serve as a technology leader, mentoring engineering teams and championing best practices in software design and development.Lead innovative proof-of-concept and prototyping efforts to evaluate new technologies and integration approaches across Trading Solution products.Take an active hands-on role in key design and development phases, including coding and solution reviews.Evangelize adoption of modern technologies, patterns, and tools that increase business agility and developer productivity.Collaborate extensively with cross-functional stakeholders: including engineers, product managers, and senior leadership—to align technical strategy with business objectives.Operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, agile work environment.Required Skills:
Minimum 20 years of software engineering experience, including leading the architecture of complex, multi-team projects and SaaS products.At least 3 years architecting and implementing distributed, large-scale systems (microservices, cloud).Proven expertise building performant cloud-native solutions, with hands-on experience in AWS (Lambdas, ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, networking, etc).Deep understanding of microservices architecture, containerization, service discovery, security, and scaling.Mastery of modern software engineering principles (CI/CD, DevOps, automation, observability).Strong domain experience integrating real-time messaging technologies (Kafka, etc), ideally within financial/trading platforms.Advanced proficiency in core Java; familiarity with modern web UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc) is valued.Exceptional communication skills for audience ranging from technical engineers to product/business leadership.Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).Highly Desired:
