Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer - Guidance Navigation and Control. This position will be located in San Diego, CA or Redondo Beach, CA.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The program has an exciting opportunity for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join the team supporting activities including flight simulator development, GNC algorithm development and implementation, "test as you fly" test development, model verification and validation.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Control include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience
Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Control include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.
Knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft flight dynamics
Experience using linear control principles and tools to design feedback control systems
Experience analyzing non-linear simulations of aircraft closed-loop dynamics
Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink
Familiar with aircraft flight mechanics and GNC analyses
Ability to obtain and maintain in-scope DOD Secret clearance prior to start
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with GNC of uncrewed aircraft
Familiar with Core VMS (or similar) code base (e.g. Common Simulation Architecture, RTCF, Digital Fight Control)
Ground and flight test experience
Active DoD Secret clearance
Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00Salary Range 2: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
