Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Principal or Sr Principal Field Engineer based out of Rolling Meadows, IL with CONUS/OCONUS travel to support flight operations.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Join our Field Engineering team, collocated with engineering and management functions, where we design, develop, test, deliver, and operate the LITENING EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infrared) targeting system. This is an exciting and dynamic opportunity to work across a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced hands-on environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the LITENING Field Engineering team; responsible for executing field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to ensure system readiness
Collaborate with the engineering team to execute hands-on technical tasks during pod installation, system testing, and integration to ensure seamless performance and operational readiness
Work closely with the Military/Government customers as well as internal Northrop Grumman engineering teams
Troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determine technical solutions in accordance with product customer specifications, and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for coordination of product solution
Conduct technical training and product briefing with customers and company representatives
This position may be filled as a Principal Field Engineer or Sr Principal Field Engineer.
Basic Qualifications Principal Field Engineer:
5 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Strong knowledge, understanding, & experience with EO/IR targeting systems
Effective verbal and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment
Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations that include business trips and short term travel to customer facilities at CONUS locations and occasional OCONUS locations. Must be willing and able to travel up to 75%
U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Basic Qualifications Sr Principal Field Engineer:
8 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Strong knowledge, understanding, & experience with EO/IR targeting systems
Effective verbal and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment
Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations that include business trips and short term travel to customer facilities at CONUS locations and occasional OCONUS locations. Must be willing and able to travel up to 75%
U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with operating, maintaining, and instructing the LITENING system
Experience with military flightline operations, support systems, and maintenance
Competence in hardware/software troubleshooting and engineering documentation
Experience working with design engineering on programs in development or EMD phases
Experience working alongside logistics teams in hardware management operations
Primary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
