Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer – Communications OR Senior Principal Electronics Engineer - Communications to our team in Palmdale, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

The selected candidate will provide key engineering support for an electro-optical subsystem and will report directly to the subsystem engineering technical lead. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

Analysis of data for subsystem performance using MATLABGeneration and presentation of reports on subsystem performance to management and customersResolution of squawks and other link anomaliesPerform sustaining engineering to maintain and improve hardware (HW), software (SW), system maintainability/supportability, etc.Coordinate with ground HW, SW, and networking teams to optimize subsystem performancePerform installation, integration, test, and troubleshooting of HW and SW in the fieldProvide on-site support for test eventsDefine support equipment (SE) requirements and provide guidance to the SE design teamDevelop and manage risks, issues, and opportunitiesMaintain baseline system documents, such as ICDs and specificationsProvide technical direction to suppliers as a member of the Supplier Management TeamGenerate updates to technical manualsSupport configuration management of the system’s HW and SW

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.  Travel up to 10% may be required.

This position may be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer – Communications level or the Senior Principal Electronics Engineer – Communications level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer - Communications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related engineering experience.Experience with electro-optical, sensors and/or communications systems, including development, test, production, integration, and/or operationsFamiliarity with systems engineering processes at the sub-system, system, and system-of-systems levels.Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: Additional SAP clearance may be required once in role.)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience.Experience with electro-optical, sensors and/or communications systems, including development, test, production, integration, and/or operationsFamiliarity with systems engineering processes at the sub-system, system, and system-of-systems levels.Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
