This position is for an experienced Principal Member of Technical Staff to lead the design, development, and experimental evaluation of cutting-edge wireless network technologies, with a particular focus on integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), AI/ML and next-generation cellular systems such as 6G. This role involves the creation and management of advanced hardware and software testbeds to facilitate rigorous experimentation, data acquisition, and analysis that underpin AT&T’s technology leadership. The successful candidate shall be recognized by their peers as a technical leader in this area and demonstrate the ability to develop new technology solutions, co-lead projects, and provide technical leadership related to AT&T’s 5G-Advanced/6G cellular networks.
**What You’ll Do:**
+ Lead the design and implementation of wireless network testbeds and experimental frameworks centered on 6G and emerging technologies.
+ Execute hands-on field experiments to validate innovative wireless applications and methodologies.
+ Collaborate closely with research and systems engineering teams to analyze large-scale experimental datasets and translate findings into practical, deployable solutions.
+ Represent AT&T Labs in relevant industry consortia, standards organizations, and technical forums.
+ Oversee laboratory operations, including budgeting, procurement of prototyping hardware/software, and resource management.
+ Mentor and guide technical staff and interns while ensuring thorough documentation of experimental procedures and lab activities.
+ Development of intellectual property (patents) for AT&T is encouraged.
**What You’ll Bring:**
+ Demonstrated expertise in wireless system integration and development, with a strong command of 3GPP-based Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies and Layer 1 (L1) protocol knowledge.
+ Proven background in wireless experimentation, RF front-end design, digital signal processing, and application of AI/ML techniques.
+ Proficiency in programming languages and tools including C/C++, Python, PyTorch, and MATLAB.
+ Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
**What You’ll Need:**
+ Ability to solve complex, critical problems related to significant and unique issues at the system and unit level.
+ Ability to use extensive testbed development experience and interpretative thinking, utilizing innovative methods to develop technology proofs-of-concept to help advance AT&T’s ability to ingest such technologies into the network.
+ Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a range of audiences, including partnering with other companies.
+ Excellent people skills and ability to promote good working relationships.
Our Principal Member of Technical Staff, earns between $180,200-$270,400.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
