Principal Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Principal Engineer Job Description The Principal Engineer will collaborate with new product development teams to conduct structural and stability analysis of new designs. The role involves utilizing tools such as finite element analysis (FEA), multibody dynamics (MBD), and classical engineering calculations to ensure efficient designs and compliance with relevant regulatory standards. Responsibilities + Work with new product development teams on structural and stability analysis. + Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and multibody dynamics (MBD) analysis. + Perform classical engineering calculations to ensure design efficiency. + Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards. + Provide guidance on structural and stability matters. + Participate in brainstorming sessions and new design reviews. Essential Skills + Proficiency in Creo and familiarity with FEA and MBD analysis. + Experience with tools such as Patran, MSC.Apex, Nastran Linear, Non-linear FEA, ADAMS, and nCode Fatigue. + Ability to perform classical engineering calculations. + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, specialized in structural analysis. + 5 years of experience in heavy equipment/off-highway structural analysis and simulation. + Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills. + Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in collaborating with teams of 5-8 members with significant tenure. + Ability to assist in the design team with geometry and metrics. Work Environment The work environment involves a cubicle office setting within a team of 5-8 members, each with 12-15 years of tenure. The typical day consists of working on new product development, conducting basic calculations, FEA, and assisting the design team. The basic cycle of a project lasts 1-1.5 years. Benefits include paid two weeks vacation and 10 paid holidays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hagerstown, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $75.15/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
