Principal Indirect Tax Accountant

The Finance team is looking for a detailed oriented, results driven Principal for US and Canada Indirect Tax to join the team. This position reports to the Senior Manager Global Indirect tax and works closely with the Finance team. The role will require the ability to quickly digest and manipulate large data sets to confidently explain complex concepts. This professional will manage and oversee all US and Canada indirect tax matters to ensure full compliance with applicable laws, mitigate risks, and identify planning opportunities to optimize the tax position of the company. The ideal candidate will display a strong work ethic, initiative and a teaming attitude within the tax team, across the organization and with third party consultants. **Role and Responsibilities:** + Manage the end-to-end U.S. sales and use tax and Canada indirect tax compliance processes, including accurate and timely filing of returns, payments, and reconciliations in all applicable jurisdictions. + Monitor changes in state and local tax laws for the US and provincial tax laws for Canada and ability to quickly assess and communicate impact on the business. + Serve as the subject matter expert on sales and use tax, providing guidance to internal teams such as Finance, Legal, IT, and Operations. + Oversee exemption certificate management and ensure proper tax treatment on customer and vendor transactions. + Lead sales tax audits and inquiries, working directly with auditors and external advisors to resolve issues. + Technological mindset with ability to streamline processes for transparency and to mitigate risk. Collaborate with IT and business teams to implement tax automation tools and ERP system enhancements (ONESOURCE, SAP ). + Develop and maintain tax processes, internal controls, and documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance. + Provide training and support to team members and internal stakeholders on tax-related topics. **Qualifications and Education Requirements:** + Minimum 5-8 years of relevant work experience + Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field of study; MBA or advanced degree preferred + Strong understanding of U.S. indirect tax laws and regulations, including nexus, sourcing rules, and taxability of goods and services. + Experience with tax automation and ERP systems; proficiency in ONESOURCE or similar platforms is a plus. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing projects appropriately. + Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. + Experience working with globally diverse teams **Sabre Offers The Following Outstanding Benefits** + Very competitive compensation + Generous Paid Time Off (25 PTO days) + 4 days (one day/quarter) Volunteer Time Off (VTO) + 5 days off annually for Year-End Break + We offer a comprehensive medical, dental and Wellness Program + 12 weeks paid parental leave + An infrastructure that allows flexible working arrangements + Formal and informal reward, recognition and acknowledgement programs + Lots of fun and engaging employee development events Reasonable Accommodation Sabre is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodation to applicants with disabilities.
