**About this role:**
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer
**In this role, you will:**
+ **Technical Leadership**
+ Lead end-to-end solution design for data platforms across the Line of Business and analytical ecosystems primarily on GCP and secondarily on OCP and Data Private Cloud.
+ Define Data Architecture blue prints to ensure NFRs like scalability, security and cost optimization etc are met on all platforms.
+ Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operational efficiency or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
+ Stay UpToDate with innovations across various cloud platforms (especially GCP), open source frameworks.
+ Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
+ Act as a technical expert, innovator, and strategic thought leader in Cloud, Automation, and specifically, the technologies within your domain. Drive technology evaluations, PoCs and adoption of emerging technologies (eg: BigLake, Alloy DB, Vertex AI, LLMs, Agentic AI etc)
+ Get in-depth understanding, monitor, and mentor the devops (CICD, versioning monitoring etc). Champion automation, Devops and CI/CD practices for data pipelines (Terraform, Cloud Build, Git Saas, Harness etc.)
+ Dive deep into your domain and understand technologies in depth also, have good understanding of other trending technologies.
+ Identifies research opportunities, delivers solutions, and makes original contributions in their domain of expertise.
+ Drive multi-year strategic initiatives and ensure existing system is maintained with highest quality.
+ Offering expert guidance to engineers, serving as a torchbearer for the team, learning new tools and technologies, delivering tech talks, and fostering a culture of encouragement for others.
+ Lead complex technology Cloud initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact.
+ Closely work with the Product Team and Vendors to develop and deploy Software Service or Cloud services to meet customer expectations.
+ Conduct code reviews, identify areas for improvement, and enforce coding standards to ensure the highest level of software craftsmanship.
+ Develop detailed understanding of business strategy, the customer base, products and services and other relevant industry issues, frameworks and emerging risks.
+ Go beyond “That’s not my job”. Think big for the entire company and not just for the team.
+ **Engineering Leadership**
+ Represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards. For ex: Speaker at Gartner, GIDS and write blogs
+ Publish Whitepapers, organize WFIP & global events like Hackathon
+ Guide and mentor a team of skilled engineers, cultivating a culture that emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
+ Mentor campus graduates. As we have been hiring from campuses for the past few years, in a few more years, they will make a substantial contribution across the roles of Software Engineers (SEs) and Senior Software Engineers (SSEs).
+ Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goalsStrategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
**Desired Qualifications**
+ Bachelors in engineering or equivalent and Must have 7+ Years of overall experience
+ Cloud certified with Hands-on knowledge of Google/Azure Cloud
+ Hands-on experience in Kafka, Apache Beam, Spark, Java, Spring, Microservices, APIs, Analytics, Machine learning, Python, Batch and Realtime Data processing.
+ Architect batch and streaming data pipelines leveraging Bigquery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub-Sub, Composer, Cloud functions etc.
+ Build and maintain data Lakehouse architectures like Iceberg, Hudi/Delta lake on GCP or any other Cloud.
+ Implement real time and near real time streaming solutions for event driven architectures. Build data ingestion frameworks supporting structured, semi structured and unstructured data and ensure/build highly available, scalable and cost effective pipelines.
+ Establish and enforce Data governance frameworks covering data quality, metadata management, data lineage and cataloging on GCP or any other cloud, on-prem systems. Collaborate with Architecture and Info security teams to design IAM roles, Encryption, DLP (Data loss prevention) and compliance policies for sensitive data and synthetic data generation.
+ Implement monitoring and observability for data platforms using Cloud Logging, Cloud monitoring and custom dashboards on GCP or any other cloud/on-prem platforms.
+ Understanding of tools and technologies like Talend, Ab-initio, Informatica, Collibra, Autosys, Tableau, Hadoop, Teradata, Hive, Oracle, Mongo DB, SQL server.
+ Understanding of Generative AI, Large Language models, Agentic AI, MCP servers, Agent to Agent protocol etc. Ability to drive innovations across Line of Business using Generative AI technologies/skills.
+ Strong hands-on experience of working with and buildout of transformational agile teams for enterprise scale application development. Contribute to coding, architecture reviews and troubleshooting complex engineering challenges.
+ Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
+ Should possess Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with virtual team members.
+ Provide effort estimates, identify resource needs, and enforce project and delivery standards.
+ Strong demonstrated people development skills to hire, coach, develop, and mentor team members.
+ Ability to deal with ambiguities effectively (Technology, People, Process or Partner).

+ CI/CD and Automation: Terraform, Git Saas, Harness, Maven, Gradle, Gitlab, SonarQube, Artifactory, Ansible
+ Monitoring: AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK, Cloud monitoring
+ Distributed technologies: Kafka, Cassandra etc
+ OS and Platform – OCP, PCF, Kubernetes, Linux, Windows, VMware
+ Agile methodology using Kanban and Scrum.
