What you will get to do:
Set-up and conduct non-destructive tests to include Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic and Radiographic methods to determine acceptability. Establish testing procedures and methods, such as shooting sketches. Monitor manufacturing processes and operations, conduct tests and inspections to assure compliance. Weld visual inspection experience required. Train and certify Level II NDT Inspectors.
This position may specialize in the areas of design, product evaluation, metrology and/ or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal NDT Engineer:
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED and 9 or more years of relevant manufacturing experienceExperience with complex part geometry welding inspection, machining processes, experience interpreting product specifications, customer purchase orders and military specifications for quality planning and management purposesExperience reading mechanical drawingsExperience navigating and administering production work orders and processing nonconforming material in an ERP environmentExperience conducting manufacturing process failure analyses and corrective action investigationsExperience working as a contributing member of an integrated manufacturing team.Non Destructive Test experienceAbility to obtain a DoD Secret clearanceU.S. Citizenship is a requiredPreferred Qualifications for the Principal NDT Engineer:
Certification in Multiple Non Destructive Inspection (NDI) Disciplines (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.)2 Year degree/certification from NDI Training InstitutionVT, PT, MT, UT, and RT Level III Certification PreferredASNT Level III certificationExperience with NSTP - 278, NSTP – 1688Experience with Phased Array technologyThe ideal candidate:
Must be able to pass eye exam to startWill be able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or close spacesMust be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedulePrimary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
