Our Tactical Space Systems Division Integration and Test group is seeking a Principal Electronics Engineer (Integration and Test) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Gilbert, AZ.
You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, electrical ground support equipment, and Linux-based simulation tools.
The ideal candidate has system-level integration and test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware, extensive scripting expertise, and strong computer and troubleshooting skills.
Daily responsibilities will require test preparation and execution, leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware. Candidate must be able to tackle complex issues utilizing skills obtained in electrical engineering and related disciplines, with a strong preference for experience in both hardware and scripting development.
Required skills include the ability to communicate clearly, lead test scripting efforts, and use critical thinking to troubleshoot problems during on-the-floor operations. Familiarity with Maestro, Linux systems, and automation scripting is highly desirable. International travel to support launch campaigns may be required. Shift and weekend work to support testing will be required periodically.
Responsibilities:Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniquesDevelop test procedures, specifications, test limits, and automation scripts for spacecraft systemsExecute testing, monitor tests per specification, troubleshoot, and document all test activitiesDemonstrate the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks across multi-discipline teamsUnderstand Northrop Grumman test engineering practices, standards, and principlesUnderstand both electrical circuits and software interaction within flight hardware and EGSESupport EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts with ability to perform independentlyFully grasp escalation processes when test errors are encountered, following program-specific protocolsParticipate in anomaly resolution processes and contribute technical solutions for FRB approvalTravel and support alternate shifts when requiredProvide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexityApply technical insight and experience to validate test setups and resultsEstablish and maintain inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine mattersCoordinate with ITEE team leads, electrical technicians, and I&T managers to complete test activitiesPrepare and present material in program review boards (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.)Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, preferably in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a master’s degree with 3 years of related engineering experienceDemonstrated ability to design, implement, and refine scripting and automation solutions using languages such as Python, Java, or VHDLStrong experience working with Linux systems, simulation tools, and spacecraft command and telemetry environmentsMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI security clearance & special program accessPreferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Visio, National Instruments LabView, or equivalent simulation and documentation toolsExperience developing and executing hardware or software testing and test scriptingMinimum of five years of directly related experience in spacecraft or satellite system testDemonstrated expertise with electrical test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, DMMs, and signal generatorsExperience in electronics troubleshooting, RF test configuration testing, and environmental testing (including Vibration Analysis/Thermal Vacuum testing)Programming proficiency with Python, C, C++, or VHDLLeadership experience coordinating multi-discipline testing activities or leading script development teamsExperience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)Salary Range: $106,000.00 - $130,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
