Principal Engineer, Embedded Data Solutions

Connectivity means using technology to extract data from our machines and engines and transform it into valuable recommendations and insights to help customers make better, more informed decisions and help Caterpillar make robust products with the lowest total ownership cost. Our products generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, on-board models, and control algorithms in real-time, creating real-world machine usage information to provide condition monitoring and fleet management services. **Responsibilities** + Support the enterprise data collection strategy and data governance as a subject matter expert for the Telematics domain data + Guide business partners and technical partners to understand and execute the enterprise data collection strategy + Collaborate with component teams, product groups and stakeholders to define data collection requirements + Support and guide clients in data integration and validation efforts + Lead and support data quality investigations both onboard and offboard + Design and lead implementation for protocols and systems to support Remote Service and services growth. + Document system requirements and architecture. **What You Will Have:** + **Software Product Design/Architecture:** Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design. + **Requirements Analysis:** Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project. + **Technical Excellence:** Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. + **Analytical Thinking:** Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. + **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. **Basic Qualifications:** + Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, or related domain. + 10+ plus years of job-related work experience with increasing levels of responsibility + Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics data collection + Experience designing and implementing Remote Service (nice to have) + Experience developing embedded protocols + Knowledge of machine and engine software + Experience with machine and engine data links and protocols + Knowledge of data pipelines and platform architectures + Experience managing projects and feature delivery. + Experience with Azure DevOps **Additional Details:** + This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office. + Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. + Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. \#LI **Summary Pay Range:** $147,760.00 - $221,640.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
