Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal Electronics Engineer - Networks to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization supporting MQ-4C Triton Program.

This position will support the design, development, and optimization of secure, scalable, and high-performance enterprise network infrastructures and will play a key role in network architecture, operations, and modernization efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Design, implement, and support network infrastructure components (Routers/Switches/Firewalls)Monitor and optimize network performanceDevelop and maintain network documents/documentation, diagrams, and standardsLead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues and support incident response as neededWork closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  Once established in role, the position could potentially offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP.Experience with airborne networks, tactical links, and/or satellite communications to include common commercial and military BLOS and LOS linksExperience in deploying, configuring, and security hardening Cisco Network DevicesUnderstanding of IPv4 and network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRPUnderstanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE)Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.Familiarity of or experience with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS and network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3)Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)Ability to obtain required passports/Visa(s) for international travel

Preferred Qualifications:

A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.Familiar with government grade encryption gear such as TACLANES or HAIPESFamiliar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket), Agile and/or Rapid prototyping software methodologiesStrong understanding of networking strategies including software defined networking over wide area networksFamiliar with current network products and technologies such as routers, firewalls, and switches, CML a plusExcellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
