Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Mercury Systems Mixed Signal business unit seeks a talented principal electrical engineer to deliver cutting-edge solutions for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications, combining commercial innovation with defense-grade security. In this role, you'll innovate with advanced embedded technology to solve complex systems as part of a collaborative hardware electrical engineering team. As a seasoned individual contributor, you will serve as a key liaison between program management, system engineering, mechanical design, software, and manufacturing, working independently with minimal supervision.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Creatively design, develop, and verify complex circuits, modules, and systems to meet customer and market requirements Develop complex embedded digital hardware products from concept through lab verification to production Take ownership of the full product development lifecycle, ensuring quality and performance standards are met Designing with cutting-edge technology from Intel, Microchip, Xilinx, NVIDIA, TI and beyond Interacting with architecture/system engineering, program/product management, CAD & SI, ME, FW/SW, purchasing, and Manufacturing Operations Designing using high-speed digital design interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, DDR SDRAM Memory. Other support circuitry to include DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UARTs Develop detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports Develop schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent Support of CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) with PCB Rules with Cadence Allegro or equivalent Utilize LAB tools such as Oscilloscopes and DVMs for verification and debug Execute Lab Debug for both HW/SW that range from new development to continued sustaining

Required Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Typically requires a minimum of 6+ years of related experience in electrical engineering product development from concept to production Experience designing complex embedded digital hardware products from concept to completion utilizing complex circuits with microprocessors, FPGAs, or network switches Experience with ruggedized military and space environments Experience developing detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports Experience designing schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent Experience supporting CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) with PCB Rules with Cadence Allegro or equivalent Experience with Lab Debug skills for both HW/SW that range from new development to continued sustaining Experience leading projects, and mentoring other engineers Ability to travel as needed between west and east coast facilities or to a customer site This position may require you to have or obtain government security clearance in the future.  Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Preferred Qualifications:

An active DoD Secret Clearance Experience designing with Intel (Xilinx) and AMD(Altera) FPGA’s Experience designing network interface devices (Mellanox, Broadcom, Marvel) Experience using Cadence Allegro experience for CAD/SI layout and simulation Experience with schematic integrity checking analysis with Mentor Valydate or equivalent Analysis including parts stress derating, reliability, and FMECA Experience designing with Military and Space Grade Components and Operating Environments Commercial/Defense 3U/6U VPX (VITA46, VITA65) Experienced in developing products for military electrical standards and environments, including designing to meet to MIL-STD-704F, 1275, 461G, 1399, DO-160G. Experience in power supply design and EMI compliance Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC) Requirements traceability (JAMA, DOORS)
