Principal Compensation Consultant, AWS Sales & Marketing Compensation Team
Description Amazon’s Compensation team is seeking a Principal Compensation Consultant to provide strategic compensation support to our AWS Sales and Marketing organizations. As a Principal Compensation Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering on the compensation needs in AWS' Sales and Marketing businesses through strategic, analytical and consulting services. You will work directly with the HR and Business leadership to build and evolve compensation programs that directly support the business's strategic objectives and provide hands-on assistance related to all areas of compensation analysis. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-moving environment and are comfortable dealing with ambiguity. You must have a passion to work with complex data, and be detailed and accurate from start to finish in developing programs and completing projects. The successful candidate will proactively partner with client-facing HR Business Partners and Business leadership to identify and address compensation issues, and evangelize Amazon’s Total Compensation philosophy and strategy. Key job responsibilities • Partner with HR leadership and teams to develop and implement compensation strategies for multiple functional areas within AWS Sales and Marketing. • Independently lead discussions with senior leaders in the business, HR, and Recruiting. • Develop creative solutions as needed on a variety of total compensation issues, and work on a variety of ad hoc special compensation projects as needed. • Perform deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing global compensation programs and assess potential impact of alternatives. • Deliver on projects including program design, analysis, budgeting, and implementation of new programs. • Write detailed and compelling papers to articulate the findings and recommendations from your analysis to a non-technical audience. • Work to gain alignment with different constituencies and represents a common point of view across multiple stakeholders. • Build and maintain mechanisms to drive operational excellence; understand current state of systems and processes and develop gap analysis between current state and customer requirements. Basic Qualifications • A Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree preferred. • Minimum of 7 years experience in compensation, finance, or consulting with an in-depth knowledge of core compensation terminology and best practices. • General compensation knowledge required. • Highly proficient in Excel and crisp, written communication. Preferred Qualifications • Compensation experience with sales populations highly preferred. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, with all levels of employees in the organization. • Strong interpersonal skills — Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal presentations that demonstrate business acumen. • The ideal candidate will be well organized and confident to work independently but will be a strong team player. • Extremely strong analytical and quantitative skills and a track record for planning, delivering, and auditing work. • Ability to create dynamic tools and models to interpret and analyze data. • Proven experience in leading/overseeing complex corporate or multi-business level initiatives/projects. • Ability to work independently, take on responsibility and be quick of foot in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment. • Superior consultation skills and the ability to seek out information and provide quality advice. • A graduate degree and/or CCP is preferred. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
