Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Agile Product Owner for the Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) division. This position is located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum, MD where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal production and emerging programs. Please note that the selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at our Linthicum, MD campus - this is not a remote work opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in Agile software development teams, implementing agile principles, engaging with challenging stakeholders, and supporting users in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently, and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment.
The web product owner’s primary responsibility is to represent the voice of the stakeholder and ensure that the team delivers value to the business. The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for defining stories and prioritizing the team backlog while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features and components for the team.
Job responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Coordinate communications between stakeholder and web development teams to drive the delivery of value to the customers.
Coordinate and prioritize the needs of multiple stakeholders across multiple products.
Manage stakeholder and development team expectations of the products.
Set the vision for the development team for highest value delivery, and be able to pivot when required.
Decompose from product vision and outcomes (high level) into features and user stories (low level).
Collaborate with the stakeholders and development team to drive product discovery and product releases.
Provide scope and priority clarification in the backlog refinement and sprint planning meetings.
Define acceptance criteria for user stories.
Collaborate with the development team to create and refine user stories.
Accept or reject work from the development team, ensuring acceptance criteria and definition of done are met before acceptance.
Support preparation and presentation of demonstrations to stakeholders.
Ensure the backlog is visible, prioritized, maintained, and reflects reality.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D.
3+ years’ experience working in a software Agile delivery framework leading cross-functional teams.
3+ years of experience with product lifecycle for new and existing products (replacement for must have product development experience).
Ability to understand wants vs. needs of internal and external stakeholders.
2+ years of product roadmap development experience.
Experience converting technical and business requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories.
Experience presenting and conducting demos of software product to users/leadership/stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize request by value delivery, not by urgency.
Ability to pivot, maintain an open mind, and lead the product development team.
Excellent communication skills and visionary on business, user experience, and technical sides of product development.
The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Product owner certification or any other major Agile certification.
Experience in holding mapping and/or product discovery workshops with stakeholders and development teams for backlog generation.
Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira and Confluence).
Experience with both COTS solution and custom application development.
Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
