Prime Services Trader - Officer

Who we are looking for

State Street Prime Services is seeking a motivated and analytically minded professional to join our Trading team. As part of the Trading team, you will help us manage the existing book of business and grow our share in a competitive market landscape. Prime Services is an alternative to prime brokerage and is a platform that allows clients to borrow securities and finance from a segregated custody account. Due to the role requirements this job needs to be performed primarily in the office.

When owners and managers of institutional assets need research, trading, securities lending and innovative portfolio strategies, they turn to SSM business units. As our investment research and trading arm, SSM’s number one goal is to enhance and preserve our clients’ portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets across the world.

What you will be responsible for

As a trader on the Prime Services team, you will;

Drive our trading optimization and development strategy globally

Provide quantitative analysis of the program, identifying themes to discuss with partner teams in Sales, Client Management, and Product Development to deliver an exceptional product experience for our clients

Support the automation of trading processes, improving efficiency and scalability

Leverage machine learning methods to enhance securities lending pricing algorithms

Borrow and lend securities to cover and manage clients’ short positions

Financial resource optimization and risk management to drive returns

What we value

Superior problem solving, analytical, and technical skills

Experience working in fast-paced, front-office financial markets environment; deeply engaged and comfortable with the markets and trading

Strong skills in modeling and programming - Experience programing in procedural/object-oriented and/or scripting languages: Python (preferred)/Java/C++

Comfortability working with large volumes of structured and unstructured data

Outstanding communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with business leaders and technical teams alike

Extremely flexible with a “do anything mentality”; creative and willing to challenge current paradigms

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Strong programming background

Experience in Securities Finance trading is a plus

Proficiency in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Comfortability with modern data management tools (e.g., Databricks)

Self-starter, motivated by making the entire team successful

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or analytical discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or Engineering preferred

Salary Range:

$120,000 - $120,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
