ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Applicants should possess motivation and creativity, demonstrate a positive demonstration of strong interpersonal communication skills, be active in working within a team, and consistently demonstrate punctuality and attendance. + Develop respectful relationships with the children, families, and UPK team members to ensure a caring and welcoming environment for children. + Assist in establishing and maintaining an environment for children that is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriate for each child’s developmental level. + Must be a flexible team player and can work well with others. + Assume the role of leadership in the absence of the Lead Teacher + Interact with the children in accordance with the developmentally appropriate practices. + Ability to manage the classroom through positive redirection, problem-solving, setting appropriate limits, and active listening + Support Lead Teacher in the development and implementation of lesson plans. + Follow through on additional duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor. Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + High school diploma or GED required. + Associate's degree in education or a related field (Preferred). + Childcare: 1 year (Preferred). + Classroom management: 1 year (Preferred). + Teaching: 1 year (Preferred). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: + Lifting and carrying children. + Close contact with children. + Direct supervision of children. + Assisting children with toileting and hand washing. + Must have stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, running, reaching, climbing, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.) without assistance in participating in children’s activities.
