As a Power Systems Controls Engineer, you will be pivotal in defining, developing, testing, and implementing Microgrid Controllers alongside SEL, Power System Automation, and EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) solutions. You will leverage the latest automation technologies from leading OEMs in the industry.
ResponsibilitiesCreate and develop Functional Specifications, including Sequence of Operations (SOO) and Bill of Materials (BOMs).Support Electrical Designers in developing project drawing packages.Develop, test, and deploy PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), DCS (Distributed Control System), RTAC (Real Time Automation Controller), IED (Intelligent Electronic Devices, Relays, Meters, Synchronizers, etc.) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) for Power System Automation Applications.Develop Test Plans for both Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and support their execution.Support loop checks, start-up, and commissioning activities to successfully deploy Power System Automation and Microgrid solutions.Conduct formal and informal customer training as required.Troubleshoot existing systems that may be malfunctioning.Essential SkillsExperience with SEL, Siemens, or Rockwell technologies.Proficiency in PLC or DCS programming.Experience in Relay/IED configuration.Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus/DNP/IEC61850).Experience with FAT/SAT.Power system automation experience.Experience with load shedding, synchronization, and switching logic.HMI/SCADA development skills.Troubleshooting and commissioning expertise.Electrical engineering degree.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.5+ years of experience with Microgrid Controllers.Experience with automation functions such as Generator Synchronization, Automatic System Islanding, Load Shedding, Main-Tie-Main, Paralleling Switchgear, and Operational Dispatch.Familiarity with technology providers such as Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Basler, Woodward, AVEVA, Ignition, etc.Experience with communication protocols common in the Power Industry (Modbus, DNP3, IEC, OPC, BACnet, etc.).Willingness to travel 25% for customer meetings, site visits, and field duties.Work EnvironmentYou will work in clean offices and organized, efficient power plants.
