Power BI Developer
**DESCRIPTION** The BI Developer / Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing scalable analytics and semantic data models that power enterprise reporting and self-service analytics. This role partners closely with data engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into governed, high-performance BI solutions. The developer builds and maintains Power BI models and dashboards and contributes to a modern cloud data platform. Experience with Tableau and Palantir analytics environments is a plus. **RESPONSIBILITIES** Essential Functions of this Position: + Design and develop enterprise semantic models and curated data sets to support scalable self-service analytics. + Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI aligned to business KPIs and product requirements. + Partner with data engineering and platform teams to model data from cloud data platforms and warehouse environments. + Translate business requirements into dimensional and analytical data models using best practices. + Optimize model performance through proper schema design, DAX tuning, aggregation strategies, and query optimization. + Implement data governance, naming standards, and documentation for BI assets and semantic layers. + Support CI/CD, versioning, and controlled promotion of BI artifacts across environments. + Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks across source systems and analytical outputs. + Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders on backlog refinement and delivery priorities. + Stay current on Power BI platform capabilities and emerging BI and analytics tooling. **QUALIFICATIONS** Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United Stateswithout current or future need for visa sponsorship . Minimum Education Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Experience Requirements: Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements: + 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Analytics Engineering roles. + Hands-on experience building Power BI semantic models, datasets, and enterprise dashboards. + Strong experience with DAX, Power Query (M), and advanced data modeling techniques. + Experience modeling data using star schema and dimensional modeling principles. + Experience working with cloud data platforms and modern data warehouses. + Experience using Palantir Foundry to prepare and integrate datasets for Power BI reporting is a plus. + Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and dataset validation. + Experience tuning BI models and reports for performance and scalability. + Experience working in Agile delivery teams. Technical Skills & Core Competencies: + Strong Power BI development skills including semantic models, DAX, and Power Query. + Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and analytical data design. + Ability to design reusable, governed datasets for self-service analytics. + Strong SQL skills across relational and analytical databases. + Understanding of data platform architecture concepts. + Experience with data quality validation and reconciliation techniques. + Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and metric definition practices. + Ability to explain technical data concepts to business users. + Strong problem solving and debugging skills. + Effective written and verbal communication skills. Physical Requirements: + Seeing + Listening Hybrid: This position follows a **Hybrid Work** Schedule, requiring the employee to work on‑site a minimum of **three (3) days per week** at or near an Acosta Corporate Office. The remaining days may be worked remotely, depending on business needs and team collaboration requirements.
