Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Powder Coat Technician will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor in the Fabrication Department. The Powder Coat Technician is responsible for processes related to powder coating for Powell products.
Essential Responsibilities
Operation of pretreatment washer and powder coat booth.Assist with daily and weekly preventative maintenance of the Paint Line equipment and facilities.Use computer software to control equipment or look-up company information.Hanging of parts to be pretreated and palletizing them when complete.Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.Ensure work area remains clean and well organized.Other duties as required.Core Competencies

Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.0 - 1 years of relevant powder coating experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.Basic working knowledge with MES (Manufacturing and Execution System).Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position successful candidates will undergo pre-employment substance abuse and medical testing upon hire.Working Conditions
Working with hot temperatures.Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.Physical Requirements
Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.Must lift or carry 10-50lbs. frequently or continuously.Using upper extremities to frequently apply or exert a force (pushing and pulling) 50lbs-100lbs.Must operate self-powered equipment and withstand vibration.Able to do repetitive hand work with both hands.Frequently or continuously be able to look over both shoulders and work with both arms above and below shoulders.Who we are
