Duties and Responsibilities include: Conducting research on specific areas of study, both on a computer and aboard ship, as assigned. Preparing technical reports and scientific papers for publishing. Maintaining and applying a substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art observations, principles and theories. Developing tools and code to conduct advanced analyses of ocean and atmosphere datasets. Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in physical oceanography or relevant field Experience: Proven ability to formulate scientific hypotheses, conduct rigorous analyses, and clearly communicate scientific results and conclusions in peer-reviewed publications. Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: + Persistent, resourceful, precise, respectful, open and inclusive. + Skill in collecting, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing oceanographic data. + Skill in clear communication of complex ideas + Ability to recognize and solve challenging problems, both independently and as part of a team. + Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
