Join Roche, where every voice matters. **The Position** In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together we create a culture defined by collaboration, responsibility and innovation, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed. This position is within the Ophthalmology department, which is part of the pRED organization located in Basel. The Ophthalmology therapeutic area focuses on the discovery and early development of innovative treatments for eye diseases such as Dry Eye Disease. We are looking for a Postdoc that leads the development and biological application of advanced in vitro conjunctival models to study immune–epithelial interactions in Dry Eye Disease, in a highly collaborative environment. **The Opportunity** + Develop, validate, and apply advanced in vitro conjunctival models (air–liquid interface cultures) in co-culture with primary immune cells. + Design hypothesis-driven experiments to dissect immune and epithelial contributions to the cross-talk in general and disease-relevant phenotypes in particular. + Analyze data using appropriate statistical methods and present data in a professional format suitable for external publication. + Work in cooperation with Research Associates and Scientists. + Your work will focus on asking and answering mechanistic questions, supporting target discovery and benchmarking, and helping advance promising portfolio assets toward the clinic. **Who you are** + You hold a PhD degree in Ophthalmology, Immunology, or a closely related discipline, completed within the last four years with 0–4 years post-PhD experience. + You bring a strong technical and conceptual background in mucosal immunology and/or ocular epithelial biology, with a particular interest in innate immune mechanisms and immune–epithelial interactions. + Experience in mouse or other preclinical immunology is very welcome; curiosity and willingness to translate immunological concepts into human-relevant systems is key. + You have extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometry and histo-/immunohistochemistry, and are comfortable using these tools to interrogate immune phenotypes and tissue states. Prior _in vitro_ model experience is a plus but not a prerequisite. + You come with scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations documented by publications in high-impact journals. + You can effectively present scientific data and concepts to colleagues and teams and communicate fluently in English. + You bring excellent data management and record-keeping skills and can effectively interact with people, both internally and externally. **Application Process** + The fellowship starts in July 2026 (or upon availability). Please specify your preferred start date in your motivation letter. The duration is 2 years, with the potential for extension. + Please include a CV, motivation letter, and publication list with your application. If you have already received your PhD certificate, please include that as well. **Ready to take the next step? We'd love to hear from you.
