Based on performance and business needs, there is potential for the role to transition into a regular Hale employee position.** **POSITION SUMMARY** The Portables & Foam Assembler builds, assembles, and tests portable and foam products using established procedures, drawings, and mechanical practices. The role involves troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, inventory support, and maintaining a safe, clean work area, with outdoor testing required. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Perform basic assembly, fitting and wiring as necessary to build a wide range of sub-assemblies and finished product. + Build to detailed procedures, cross sections or from general instructions and acceptable mechanical practices. + Able to repair and troubleshoot when required. + Report supply needs in a timely manner assuring required supply levels are maintained. + Report any safety and maintenance needs to supervisor. + Perform functional testing on portables and foam products. + Perform routine maintenance on assembly and test equipment. + Capable of using sound mechanical judgment to independently install components with limited instruction. + Use of a variety of hand, air, hydraulic, and testing tooling and equipment. + Able to read and understand torque values and procedures. + Able to read and interpret Bill of Materials and drawings. + Store and place in proper locations all items required to assure the assembly area is free of accumulated clutter, clean, and is in orderly condition. + Perform annual inventory. + Ability to work outside when testing units. + All other duties as assigned. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES** + Ability to read tape measure in both standard and metric scales. + Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. + Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + Ability to document individual work orders. + Ability to speak effectively to co-workers, supervisor, and other departments to clarify work orders and blueprints. + Ability to work in a team setting. **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE** + At least 6 months of experience of light industrial or mechanical assembly. + At least 6 months of experience using a variety of hand, air, hydraulic, and testing tooling and equipment. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must have the ability to sit, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or lay down to complete tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus to read BOMs, work orders, and shop orders. May be exposed to various workplace hazards, including but not limited to chemicals, machinery, and noise. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
