SWRMC is seeking a Board-Certified/Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Team in a part-time (.6 FTE) capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary hospital-based environment.

Position Overview

The PM&R Physician will provide medical oversight and direct patient care for a 6-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, partnering closely with therapy services, nursing, case management, and hospital leadership to support functional recovery and safe transitions of care.

This role is ideal for a physician seeking meaningful clinical impact, predictable scheduling, and work-life balance, while remaining engaged in inpatient rehabilitation medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the attending physician for patients admitted to the Inpatient Rehabilitation UnitServe as the IPR unit Medical Director leading quality, efficiency, and clinical performance improvement effortsPerform comprehensive rehabilitation evaluations and ongoing medical managementCollaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and case management teamsLead interdisciplinary team conferences, care planning, and transitionsEnsure consistent compliance with CMS, accreditation, and documentation standards for inpatient rehabSupport quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives within the rehab programCoordinate care with referring physicians, hospitalists, and post-acute providers as needed

Qualifications

MD or DOBoard Certified/Eligible in Physical Medicine & RehabilitationEligible for or currently licensed in the state of VirginiaInpatient rehabilitation experience preferredStrong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills
