The PLC Controls Technician is responsible for working on mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies. The role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and servicing hydraulic test equipment, machines, test systems, and components. The technician will communicate findings and recommendations to both customers and supervisors and must be proficient at handling cylinders, pumps, motors, and valve components. Familiarity with advanced hydraulic systems and the ability to conduct technical research using available resources is essential.
ResponsibilitiesWork on mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies.Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, recondition, and service hydraulic test equipment, machines, test systems, and components.Communicate findings and recommendations to customers and supervisors.Handle cylinders, pumps, motors, and valve components with proficiency.Utilize resources for technical research.Run hydraulic test equipment and work towards becoming a certified hydraulic technician.Perform basic welding of fixtures.Program, set up, and operate linear and rotary reciprocating hydraulic tests.Troubleshoot malfunctioning test equipment using diagnostic instruments and make necessary repairs and adjustments.Log test data and report readings in a timely manner.Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to safety practices including 'Lock out Tag out'.Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations including OSHA and EPA.Work closely with company engineers, internal, and external customers.
Essential SkillsProficiency in handling cylinders, pumps, motor and valve components.Familiarity with advanced hydraulic systems.Working knowledge of running hydraulic test equipment.PLC programming and troubleshooting.Ability to perform basic welding.Experience with hydraulic systems and components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications10-14 years of related experience.Experience with wiring and programming of PLCs.Ability to assist with fabrication and assembly of test fixtures.Experience in assembling, fitting, and installing hydraulic components.

The position is based in a shop environment with key entry access limited to a select few. The workspace is not temperature controlled but includes an air system. There is ongoing expansion into an adjacent facility.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
