Job Description:

A Plating Operator sets up and runs machinery to coat metal/plastic parts with protective or decorative layers (like chrome, zinc, copper) using electroplating or chemical baths, focusing on surface prep, operating automated hoists/tanks, monitoring thickness/quality (micrometers), maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety/quality standards, often involving computer controls, hand tools, and basic chemistry/math for adjustments.

Responsibilities:

Operation: Load/unload parts, start/stop plating lines, adjust machine settings (voltage, flow), and monitor automated systems. Quality Control: Inspect parts for defects (bubbles, unevenness), measure plating thickness, and ensure conformance to specifications.Preparation: Clean and roughen surfaces (wire brush, sandblast), position parts on racks, and mix/test chemical solutions.Maintenance: Clean tanks, lubricate machinery, replace worn parts, and perform general upkeep.Safety: Follow strict safety protocols, wear PPE (glasses, respirators), and handle chemicals properly.

Education: No formal education required.
