We are hiring a Platform Engineer to help maintain and evolve our global low-latency trading infrastructure. This is a London-based engineering role, focused on the reliability, observability, and performance of a mature FX and macro trading platform. You will work with a well-established Java codebase on Linux, supporting real-time systems used by a large global client base. This is not a Greenfield or quant role — we're looking for someone passionate about robust systems, diagnostics, and platform engineering, not someone whose primary focus is trading strategies. Our platform is recognized as one of the largest FX trading systems globally.
What You’ll Do
Enhance and support low-latency Java services running on Red Hat Linux.Operate and extend our UDP multicast infrastructure, primarily Informatica LBM.Support and evolve FIX protocol connectivity for client and venue interfaces.Lead efforts around monitoring, alerting, and production stability.Work with tools including Geneos, Splunk, and Grafana to ensure observability.Collaborate with global engineering and support teams to drive operational excellence.Contribute to technical decision-making around reliability, performance, and incident response.What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in Java (17/21+) development with a strong understanding of performance tuning and concurrency.Deep familiarity with Linux systems engineering, particularly Red Hat.Hands-on experience with multicast messaging (ideally LBM, or equivalents like Aeron or Tibco).Strong platform mindset: you think about uptime, metrics, logs, alerts, capacity, and supportability.Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Geneos, Splunk, Grafana.Comfortable working on production-critical, high-uptime systems in a regulated environment.Scripting experience with languages such as Python or Perl.Nice to Have
Knowledge of FIX protocol and its role in electronic trading.Experience in a low-latency trading or market data environment.Scripting (Bash, Python) or config automation (Ansible, etc.).Familiarity with messaging patterns, network tuning, or CPU/memory profiling.Experience with in-memory databases like kdb for analytical work and setting up dashboards around low latency flow.What We Offer
