**Job Title: Plastics Technician**
Job Description
The Plastics Technician provides essential technical support through executing plastics evaluations, including failure analysis, material evaluation, and characterization using a variety of techniques and instrumentation. The role also involves executing toxicity and restricted substances review processes, as well as chemistry evaluations. Interaction with customers to discuss request backgrounds, test plans, and interim results is a key component of this position.
Responsibilities
+ Execute plastics evaluations and chemistry evaluations using a variety of techniques and instruments.
+ Perform failure analysis, material evaluation, and characterization.
+ Interact with customers to discuss requests, test plans, sample requirements, and interim results.
+ Review parts and subassemblies in scope per toxicity review processes.
+ Develop detailed analytical test reports including micrographs, calculations, and spectra.
+ Calibrate and maintain equipment in good working order.
+ Manage work queues to address requests in a timely manner.
+ Maintain a safe and organized work area, following all EHS policies.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in chemistry and analytical chemistry.
+ Experience with materials testing and failure analysis.
+ Skills in GC, FTIR, IC, chromatography, DSC, TGA, XRF.
+ Ability to discuss test plans and interim results with customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
+ At least 1 year of experience in a lab setting.
+ Proficient in completing accurate lab reports.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to learn new tasks.
+ Understanding of global regulations related to toxicity, such as California Prop 65, RoHS, and REACH.

Work Environment
The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, totaling 40 hours a week. The role involves a combination of lab documentation, reporting, and hands-on testing, alongside a professional team member.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, Kentucky.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.50/hr.
